Professor for Protestant Theology and its Didactics (Systematic Theology, History and Sociology of Religion) at University of Bielefeld, Germany. Professor for Religious and Cultural Studies at Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica. Between 1995 and 2003 professor for Systematic Theology and Social Sciences (emphasis on religion) at Universidad Bíblica Latinoamericana, Costa Rica. In this context, frequent lectures in different Latin American countries with strong interdisciplinary and intercultural feature. Between 1998 and 2003, participation in an intercultural and interdisciplinary working group on religion at the fault-lines of cultural, political and economic globalization and interreligious dialogue. Focus on political conflicts between religious actors, on fundamentalisms and on theory. (See publications) From 1992 to 1994 assistant professor (Lehrbeauftragter) for ecumenical theology at Ruhr-Universität, Bochum. From 1989 to 1994 vicar and pastor of Evangelische Kirche von Westfalen. 1983, 1985 and 1986 field studies on religious movements (with emphasis on Pentecostalism) in the Central American civil wars. Seminars, lectures and working groups in cooperation with different research institutions in Latin America and Europe, and with the UN. Main interests: religious as well as cultural identities and strategies, intercultural relations, social ethics, Systematic Theology, discourse analysis, sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, Pentecostalism, cultural globalization, social movements, ecumenical movement. Hobbies: Aikido, diving.
