Short Biography & Motivation

Christian Munier received the master's degree in Computer Science in the Natural Sciences from Bielefeld University, Germany in 2011. The subject of his master thesis was investigating acoustic distance measures that allow for measurement of syllable similarity. Subsequently he joined the Applied Informatics Group at Bielefeld University, Germany and the Center of Excellence Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC). Currently he is pursuing a PhD in computer science, striving to augment the performance of automatic speech recognition through integration of various context. He is connected to the Center for Cognition and Robotics (CoR-Lab) through the SoziRob project, which is funded by the German Aerospace Center DLR ("Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V").

His research interests currently include distant speech recognition, noise-robustness, robot audition, speaker diarization, emotion recognition from acoustic signals and both automatic speech recognition and speech signal processing in general.

Christian Munier is a member of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA), a member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and an IEEE student member.
